A brief summary of history

Preface

This is a set of notes attempting to provide a brief summary of history, including both the history of the universe and recorded history.

A similar set of summaries/notes on other subjects may be found at [1]. This set of notes is logically part of that one, but it has been separated because history can be politically controversial, and i don't want the reputation of those notes to be tarnished because of controversy generated by these.

If you find an error here, please let me know and provide evidence, and if i am convinced, i will change it.

Please note that the author has no historical expertise. Most of this is simply a summary of stuff i read on Wikipedia.

Part II: Postclassical history (~500 thru ~1500)

Part III: Early Modern history until the Enlightenment (~1500 thru ~1650)

Part III: Modern history from the Enlightenment thru the Industrial revolution (~1650 thru ~1830)

Part III: Modern history thru World War II (~1830 thru ~1950)

(note: 1950 is five years after the end of WWII; we're including some aftermath here)

Part IV: After World War II (~1950-)

Part V: History, by facet

In this part, we re-summarize history by facet. These summaries are even more terse, and assume that you have read Part I.
