explanation of how i rated: I rated the movies based on how strongly i would recommend other people to seek out and watch them. It is hard for a movie to get more than 2 stars on my scale. A 1.5 star in my scale doesn't mean "poorly done" it just means i don't want to recommend it.

• .5: unpleasant to watch
• 1 : watchable but not really worth the time -- i wouldn't recommend it
• 1.5: there was something cool about this movie but overall i wouldn't especially recommend it
• 2: i enjoyed watching this movie quite a bit, but it didn't change my life or anything
• 2.5: this movie almost made 3 stars but not quite; i'd recommend it if you're in the right mood
• 3: this movie was great, you should probably check it out sometime before you die
• 3.5: this is one of my favorite movies, i really recommend it
• 4: this movie was so awesome!! you have to see it!!!

(in other words, anything 3 stars or over is "recommended" in the sense that you should seek out the movie (and 2.5 stars is close); 3.5 stars and up are my favorite movies; and 4 stars are the best of the best)
