Macros for the datahand pro

According to the datahand pro manual, section 8, there seem to be three kinds of macros. 'direct substitution key's, which replace a key's meaning in 'normal' mode; 'sequential macros', which are activated by holding up a mode key while you push another key; and 'chorded macros', which are activated by holding up the normal mode key while pushing another key.

To set a direct substitution key, hold up the normal mode key and hit the 'reset' button (that button on the BACK of the left hand unit). The red light goes on. Now hit 'w'. The lights flash. Now hit the key that you want to reassign. Next, hit the reassignment. When you're done, hold up the normal mode key and hit ESC.

To set a 'sequential macro', hold up the normal mode key and hit the 'reset' button (that button on the BACK of the left hand unit). The red light goes on. Now hit 'b'. The lights flash. Now raise up the mode switch key that you want to assign to the new key combo. Next hit the key that you want to reassign. Next, hit the reassignment. When you're done, hold up the normal mode key and hit ESC.

In both cases, the 'reassignment' that you assign to the key is interpreted using the original key mapping, i.e. without any macros being applied.

Here are the macros that I use for making the arrows available in normal mode:

Now you can leave 'mouse mode' on all the time and use the right pinky for the arrow keys without switching out of normal mode. The 'p' has been reassigned to the win key. '/' has been assigned to the DEL key, and '\' has been reassigned to ESC. ? and \ are shift-del and shift-esc. The WIN key has been reassigned to the ` key. In order to use ] and }, you have to hold up the yellow mode switch and then use the '[' key (left pinky, right side). In order to use `, you have to hold up the yellow mode switch and then use the ` key.

ESC and DEL have been lost, however. It seems like ESC and DEL in the other modes are just aliases for whatever ESC and DEL in normal mode has been assigned to, so by reassigning those we lost them completely. Furthermore, it seems that ESC and DEL can't hold both a direct substitution key and a sequential macro at once. If you wanted to, you could add in some sequential macros to assign them elsewhere.

Here are some macros for emacs that I use:

Now, to save in emacs, hold up the normal mode select key and press s.
