Why aren't dreams real?
- Sometimes an external event in the real world can cause you to be abruptly woken from a dream into the real world, but the reverse never happens; an event in a dream never abruptly moves you from the real world into a dream.
- There is only one linear real life history, memories of which we remember before and after each episode of sleep. At any point in time during real life we remember every preceding point. However, in different dreams, we do not always remember the same recent history.
- In real life we know that we are in real life and we remember dreams. However, in dreams we think we are in real life yet we do not remember real life.
