notes-philosophy-dualism

if there is a 'mind' domain besides the domain of 'matter', there seem to be different connotations to what this might mean.

Is 'magic' related to this? Perhaps, depending on how you define it. It seems to me that the word 'magic' connotes a 'trick', in the sense of a result unexpected/unexplained by a given mechanical ruleset (such as modern physics), but it's implied that the 'trick' is an influence of the spiritual domain upon the material, that is, magic is when a process whose governing paradigm is 'mind-like' rather mechanistic than is affecting physical reality.

It seems that this conception of magic implies an assumption of dualism.

My feeling is that consciousness shows that at least one kind of magic is real, if magic is taken to be this. I suppose that means that i feel that consciousness implies dualism of some sort.
