"I use OmniFocus?. It's extremely robust. Specifically for "What to do Today" I use a custom perspective that combines tasks with due dates of today, tasks in the "Today" project, or tasks tagged with a "☆" tag."

"Todoist really is powerful. It somehow has always reminded me of OmniFocus? with a less confusing UI and that works everywhere."

I use OF as the headquarters of all my projects/goals. For some reason, OmniFocus? gives you a sense of trust, maybe because you can feel that its architecture was built a long time ago, by people who really had a clear vision and purpose. Great company. Workflowy also is a fantastic piece of software, that I use to gather information (I teach jazz improvisation) and create general lists (travel lists, song lists, facts, etc) I also use it to quickly shape my day (but not the future), because you can easily move things around and have a very clear view of what's next. OF doesn't really have a TODAY view (even though you can find ways to create one). Cheers! " "User avatar level 1 squaredpx · 1y

I’ve an Omnifocus user for the past 6 years and las week I moved to Things for this exact reason. I love Omnifocus functionality but it’s UI/UX needs a complete rethink to make it easy to use and more “enjoyable” (specially on iOS). On the other hand Things lack some functionality but the app experience and workflow is extremely good. Some task like move or rearrange tasks are much more easy to accomplish. I hope they take your email into consideration, 2020 seems a little to quick but maybe we can dream with a 2021 redesign 🤞 7 User avatar level 2

To be fair, there has been a lot of very good discussion on the specific issues of the UI, especially in iPad and iPhone. Not everyone is just complaining that "it's not Things".

Have a look here: https://discourse.omnigroup.com/t/ios-app-redesign/45224/50

The discussion there is great and the level of detail on why Omnifocus for iPad falls short in real world usage is good. I have to say I agree with most of those comments. And I have moved on from Omnifocus sadly. I'd used it since v1 but now that I'm on iPad primarily I found it was too cumbersome to really work for me. 5 User avatar level 3 squaredpx · 1y

This link summarizes perfectly the issue I have with OmniFocus? for iOS. It’s not about being pretty, it’s about being useful, and in OmniFocus? for iOS everything is a lot of “taps” away, I have the impression that I spend most of my time tapping to navigate panel after panel instead of focusing on what’s important 1

Many Many other posts about this.... I completely agree. OF is a chore to use compared to Things 3 and Todoist. Partly because it's more complex, but that is not all of it. A lot is because of their dated approach (imho).

Things 3 is my current favorite, but I wish it had a web app because I'm stuck on a pc at work.

Todoist is good, but I have a hard time getting past the lack of defer/start dates. 6

Yeah, defer dates is a big one for me. What do you use in things for this? Just the when date? Or something else? 1 User avatar level 3 _CosmoKramer?_ · 1y

Yes, the When date is the same as the defer date used in OF 2 User avatar level 3 _CosmoKramer?_ · 1y

I'm also frustrated that Todoist iOS apps don't have the same keyboard shortcuts. 1

"What I find cool about tasks in Roam is that you can drag tasks from other pages into your daily notes as block references so they essentially exist in two places at once. I ultimately decided to stick with OmniFocus? though because Roam does not have any reminders and it's also hard to capture on the go. I do however copy and paste OmniFocus? tasks into my daily notes which gives me a to-do in Roam, but I consider that just a scratch copy and for journal recording only. "

And don’t forget Glue ✌🏻 "

asana review: "What do you dislike? I don't like some of the confusing layouts of the task lists. I also don't like that it's information overload when you can see all the other things going on in an organization / group -- I wish that there was a simple way to just pare it down to the things most relevant to me that I'm seeing. I would also like a "nudge" feature to remind other people of tasks and deadlines." anaother asana review: What do you dislike? If a have multiple lists you can't merge.
