Google banned Simpletask Dropbox because they say it is 'too similar' to Simpletask NG: [1]. Simpletask NG as of mar 4 2021 doesn't work well with Dropbox (it doesn't reload the todo.txt file upon open, or even when you say "Sync", you have to load another file and then go back and load the original todo.txt file again). Workaround:

use Files app to go into Downloads folder, select, and install (you'll have to allow unknown apps installation as part of this; for max security, after you are done with all this, go into Settings->Apps & Notifications->Special App Access->Install Unknown Apps->Files, and deselect 'Allow from this source')
