notes-cog-negativeInformation

perhaps 'negative information' could be used to represent a situation where:

(a) you are given a statement (b) you are offered to opportunity to ask questions (c) your questions are longer than the statement itself (that you were given in (a); that is, the bits required to express your questions is greater than the bits required to express the original statement

or, closely related:

(a) you are given a statement (b) the statement makes you question your understanding of prior knowledge that previously, you thought you understood; or, the statement calls into question beliefs that you had previously held (c) (in order to bring your (self-estimated) level of understanding back up to the level at which it was; or, in order to bring your (self-estimated) level of knowledge about the world back up to the level at which you believed it was) before you received the statement in (a), you require additional information; the number of additional bits required is greater than the bits required to express the statement in (a)
