the stock market may be bridging the symbolicist/connectionist gap.
notice how sometimes, the market seems to suddenly change in a discontinuous, qualitative way, either not caused by any known event, or caused by a tiny event that seems to have just been "the straw that broke the camel's back"? so that it goes into a different regime/a "different" strange attractor?
this is what you might expect to see when a mind which computes in continuous quantities has a thought or makes a judegment.
