It would be interesting to have a system for a committee of five people to make decisions, where each of the five has a distinct role/office, inspired by wu xing, a system of five elements.
An idea along these lines:
- Wood: (the only one who) Can create new main motions
- Fire: Chooses the order of speakers
- Earth: Parliamentarian, secretary, chair. If the bylaws call for different voting thresholds for different sorts of main motions, decides which kind each one is
- Metal: Decides when discussion should be cut off for a vote
- Water: Can unilaterally veto, but only if they think the motion goes against the organization's constitution/law, higher purpose, or ethics
